Disposable coveralls by protection type and material
A disposable coverall is worn once, over workwear, to keep dust, spray, splash or biological contamination off the skin and out of the van at the end of the job. The type number is the specification that matters. Type 5 stops airborne solid particulate, which covers insulation work, demolition dust and dry powder handling; type 6 adds limited protection against a light liquid spray; type 4 is sealed against saturating spray; and type 3 resists a pressurised liquid jet.
Material follows from that. SMS polypropylene breathes well and suits warm dusty work, microporous laminates hold out liquids at the cost of heat build up, and flash spun polyethylene combines a barrier with real tear strength. Then check the detail: taped or bound seams, an elasticated hood and cuffs, thumb loops, a covered zip flap and antistatic treatment where an explosive atmosphere is possible.
Size generously, because a garment that pulls at the shoulder splits. Where the risk is limited to the front of the body a disposable gown is quicker to put on, and the wider disposable clothing group covers oversleeves, overshoes and caps.
