Ear defenders for work where protection goes on and off

Ear defenders close off the ear with a cup on a cushion, which makes them the choice for work where hearing protection goes on and off repeatedly. With a noisy machine and short breaks in between, a cup goes on in seconds, while earplugs need clean hands and correct placement every time.

Attenuation is expressed as an SNR value in dB. More attenuation is not always better: anyone who can no longer hear colleagues, alarms or their own machine lifts the cup and is then unprotected. So match the value to the measured noise level of the workplace. For environments where people have to communicate there are headsets with radio reception or a communication connection, which attenuate the background and let speech through.
