Self-adhesive bumper caps and feet

A bumper cap absorbs the knock where two hard surfaces meet. On a cabinet door it softens the closing, under an appliance it stops scratching and sliding, and on a flap it keeps the noise out of the room. These are small parts with a clear job, and the choice comes down to three things: material, size and adhesive. Clear versions all but disappear on light furniture, while black and grey are visible but hide dirt better.

Choose the height on the clearance you want to fill. Flat caps of just over 2 mm stay unobtrusive, taller versions around 3.5 mm damp heavier work. Diameter decides how the pressure spreads over the surface, so prefer a wide contact face under heavy flaps. The adhesive layer is the part that fails in practice. Acrylic adhesive bonds strongly to smooth, clean and dry surfaces and only builds its final strength in the hours after sticking.

Rubber adhesive grabs faster and tolerates more movement in the joint. Always degrease the surface first, because dust and silicone cost more bond than any choice of adhesive. More fittings and finishing parts sit under various accessories.
