Chalk line powder for refilling a chalk line reel

Chalk line powder is the chalk you refill a chalk line reel with, so that the tensioned cord leaves a tight straight line on the surface when it is snapped. It is a consumable. A reel that no longer marks clearly is nearly always empty rather than broken, so top it up before you start setting out.

Choose on colour and on how long the line has to last. Blue is the usual choice for interior work and on light surfaces, red and black mark more sharply on rough concrete, roofing and dark sheet material. Bear in mind that one colour stays put longer than another, so match the choice to how long the line has to remain visible and whether it has to come off again later.

Pack sizes run from 225 g for occasional use to 1000 g for daily setting out. A pouring bottle with a spout refills cleanly without losing powder across the bench.
