Cordless punching machine: holes without drilling

A cordless punching machine makes clean, round or shaped holes in sheet steel, profiles and cable trays in a single movement, without drilling or sawing. For fitters in switchgear and panel building, installation work and metalworking, that delivers a burr-free hole with crisp edges, ready for glands, push buttons or feed-throughs.

Many versions work hydraulically: a battery drives a pump that pushes the punch through the material with great power, even on site and in hard-to-reach spots. Milwaukee, Makita and Bosch offer models on 18V for mobile work and heavier versions on 40V for thicker plate. When choosing, look at the maximum punch diameter and the plate thickness you want to handle, because these decide which punches and dies you need.

Also check whether the required punch and die sets are included or sold separately. A supplied carry case keeps the machine, the punches and the dies neatly together, so you quickly have the right tool to hand on the job.
