Facom VFA cutter and milling files, no. 1 to 6
Facom VFA cutter files and milling files remove metal accurately when fitting, deburring and truing workpieces in the workshop and the toolroom. They come in a narrow and a wide version, each with a number that marks the variant within the series. These files belong to Facom cutting tools, alongside drills, cutters and taps for metalworking.
Begin with the width. A 6 mm file fits narrow slots, keyways and gaps between closely spaced edges, where a wider file would hit the side wall. The 12 mm version covers more surface per stroke and works faster on flat faces and outer edges. The second figure in the designation, such as 6x18, 12x20 or 12x25 mm, gives the working face; a shorter face is easier to steer in a confined space.
The number, from no. 1 to no. 6, separates the variants within each width. Compare it with the VFA file you already use, so a worn one is replaced by the same type. Store the files apart, so the cutting teeth do not knock against other tools.
