Line lasers and 360 degree lasers for level work

Within laser measuring tools the line laser does the heavy work. A cross line laser projects a horizontal and a vertical line and levels itself, so the spirit level and the tape can stay in the bag. Versions with 360 degree planes carry the line right around the room and let you work from one set-up on ceiling, wall and floor.

Beam colour is the first choice. A green line stays visible in daylight and at longer range, while red is enough indoors and asks less of the battery. Check the stated accuracy as well, where 1 mm and 2 mm are the usual figures. Self-levelling types correct themselves within their range and warn as soon as they are set outside it, which keeps the work square.

Power decides how the laser fits into the day. A 12V battery is light and quickly swapped between jobs, while an 18V platform shares its batteries with the rest of the machines. Versions on AA or 9V cells stay usable as a fallback when no charger is on the van. A cordura bag or a case belongs with it, because the optics are the most vulnerable part.
