Work gloves for cutting, chemical and assembly work
Hand injuries are the most common damage on a working floor, and hand protection only works when the glove type matches the risk. Cut hazard, chemicals, heat, vibration and moisture each ask for a different material and a different standard. Start with the EN 388 marking. That string gives resistance to abrasion, cut, tear and puncture in turn, with the cut level from the TDM test alongside it. For assembly and general handling a knitted glove with a nitrile or polyurethane coating is usually enough: it gives grip without taking away the feel in the fingertips.
With oil and coolant, choose a fully coated version; for chemical work, a latex or nitrile glove with a documented breakthrough time for the product being handled. Disposable nitrile gloves belong with short, dirty jobs and are explicitly not cut protection. For live electrical work, look for an insulating glove rated to 1000V. Finally, watch the size. A glove that is too large slides and costs grip, while one that is too small tires the hand within an hour and then comes off, which defeats the protection entirely.
Sleeves and arm protection sit under hand and arm protection.
