Internal pullers with expanding jaws for blind bores

An internal puller grips from the inside, where a standard two-arm puller finds nothing to hook onto. Think of a ball bearing in a blind bore, a bush in a hub or a seal sitting deep in a housing. The jaw passes through the inner ring, spreads open behind the bearing and draws it straight out of its seat without damaging the wall of the bore.

Grip range is the first selection. Sizes are stepped in overlapping spans, so a series of bores can be worked through without a gap between tools. Measure the inside diameter before you order: a jaw set too wide grips on the edge and pulls the bearing out of square, which damages the seat you are trying to save.

Work with a counterstay or a slide hammer where there is no room to bear against the housing, and heat a seized seat briefly rather than overloading the draw spindle. Gedore, Bahco, Kukko and Facom each step their ranges differently, so compare the spans against the bores you actually work on. If you need a version that grips from the outside, that sits with the two-arm and three-arm pullers.
