A good filling knife makes the difference between a smooth, invisible repair and a surface that needs reworking. This category covers putty knives, spackle knives and stripping blades in widths from 45 mm for detail work up to 500 mm for wide-area filling.

Bahco leads the range with stainless steel putty knives featuring two-component handles, available in sizes including 150 mm, 200 mm, 215 mm and 235 mm. The stainless blades resist corrosion from water-based fillers and are easy to clean. Stanley contributes spackle knives in 300 mm and 500 mm widths for skim-coating large wall surfaces, alongside standard 150 mm putty knives and models with integrated PH2 bit storage for quick screw adjustments.

Xhander and Gedore add budget and professional options respectively, while Gedore Red bridges the gap for workshop use. Blade widths up to 60 mm suit caulk removal and paint scraping, while 150 mm and wider blades excel at applying and smoothing filler compounds. Choose stainless steel for water-based products and standard carbon steel when maximum blade stiffness matters.
