The Company
Renold was founded in 1879 in the United Kingdom by Hans Renold, a Swiss engineer who received a patent in 1880 for his invention of the roller chain. The Hans Renold Company is the oldest still-operating industrial chain manufacturer in the world and a respected leader in its field. In 1912, Renold produced the chain for The Great Clock at Westminster Palace in London, commonly known as Big Ben. In 1923, Renold opened its branch in Belgium. Today, Renold operates in 23 countries and distributes its products worldwide through 70 distributors.
