Screen sleeves for injection mortar and hollow substrates
A screen sleeve makes chemical anchoring possible in a substrate that is not solid. In hollow brick, aerated block or a perforated block, injection mortar without a sleeve would run away into the voids and never cure around the threaded rod. The sleeve holds the mortar in place and lets it pass out through the openings, where it keys behind the internal webs and anchors mechanically.
Choose the diameter on the drill size and the length on the thickness of the wall you drill through. Plastic sleeves come in fixed lengths per size, while metal mesh is supplied on a roll so you cut the length you need. That is useful with unusual wall thicknesses and with deeper anchorings. The thread size of the rod that goes in also decides which sleeve you need, with sizes running from M12 to M20.
Blow or brush the hole clean before injecting, because leftover drilling dust costs bond and with it pull-out value. The threaded rods themselves sit under anchor rod, and the wider range of fixings under anchoring.
