Surface roughness testers for accurate finish control

A surface roughness tester measures the surface finish of machined parts and converts it into standardised values such as Ra and Rz. With it you check whether a milled, ground or turned face meets the required tolerance before the part moves further down the line. The instrument draws a fine stylus across the surface and reads the height profile digitally, so you measure objectively and repeatably.

When choosing, look at the measuring range, the resolution and the available parameters, because not every surface calls for the same standard. A portable version also measures large workpieces that you cannot place under a fixed stand. For quality control, machine maintenance and final inspection a surface roughness tester is indispensable to prevent rejects and later disputes.

Calibrate the instrument regularly with the supplied reference and keep it dust-free to protect the stylus. Combine the readings with your other measuring and inspection instruments so you fully document and substantiate every part toward your customer.
