Thickness gauges for measuring material thickness
A thickness gauge determines the wall or material thickness of sheet, film, pipe, leather or rubber by clamping the material between two measuring faces. The built-in dial reads the thickness directly, often accurate to 0.01 mm, so you check tolerances reliably. Manufacturers, quality inspectors and laboratories use them for incoming inspection and spot checks, where a consistent thickness is decisive for the final quality.
The shape of the measuring faces decides the application: flat faces for flat material, domed or pointed contacts for curved or thin-walled pieces. When choosing, look at the measuring range, the reading accuracy and the throat depth, because that sets how far from the edge you can still measure. A deep throat lets you measure into the middle of a sheet rather than only along the edge.
