Torque multipliers for high tightening torque

A torque multiplier turns hand force into a multiple of tightening torque, without impact and without compressed air. A gear train in the head raises the torque and lowers the speed at the same time, so one person with an ordinary ratchet or torque wrench breaks loose bolts that would otherwise call for hydraulic tools. Because the force builds evenly the joint stays measurable: you drive the input with a torque wrench and calculate the result at the output.

Output torques here run a long way apart, from 1300 Nm to 54000 Nm. Choose the final torque the work asks for first, with margin, and only then the drive square at input and output, because that decides which sockets and which wrench fit. At these torques use impact sockets and not ordinary ones.

Finally, look at the reaction arm. It has to bear against something solid, and the reaction force it takes is as large as the torque you apply. A support point on a pipe or a cable tray will not hold that. The tool you use at the input sits under torque wrenches.
