Bit screwdrivers with interchangeable bits

A bit screwdriver is a handle with a 1/4" bit holder, so you switch from cross head to torx or hex without carrying a full set of drivers. On service work, on assembly in cabinets and machines, and on anything that has to fit in a tool bag, that saves weight and searching.

Look at the holder first. A magnetic holder grips the bit and keeps the screw in place on overhead work. A locking holder does not release the bit when the driver is pulled out of a deep opening. Versions with a ratchet keep turning in tight spaces where the handle cannot be rotated, and a T-handle transfers torque where a straight shaft gives too little grip.

The handle shape decides how much you can apply before the hand gives out. Slim handles steer precisely, thick multi-component handles carry more torque. Blade lengths here run from around 45 to 150 mm, so you work close in as well as through a recessed opening. Wera, Wiha, Bosch, Bahco, Facom, Gedore, Stanley and Festool all supply them. Fixed sizes sit under screwdrivers and nut drivers.
