Optical smoke detectors with pause function and 3 V lithium battery

Optical smoke detectors provide early warning of smouldering fires by sensing smoke particles in the air before flames develop, giving occupants critical extra time to evacuate. These detectors use a light-scattering principle inside the sensing chamber: when smoke enters, it deflects a light beam onto a photodiode, triggering the alarm.

This optical method is particularly effective at detecting slow-burning fires from overheated wiring, smouldering upholstery and electrical faults, which are among the most common fire causes in residential and commercial buildings. Built-in 3 V lithium batteries eliminate the need for regular battery replacements, providing years of uninterrupted protection without maintenance visits. A pause button lets you temporarily silence the alarm during cooking or other activities that generate non-hazardous smoke, without disabling the detector entirely.

After the pause period, the detector automatically returns to full monitoring. When installing smoke detectors, place them on the ceiling at least 30 cm from walls and light fittings, and ensure coverage on every floor and in hallways leading to sleeping areas. Test the alarm monthly by pressing the test button, and replace the entire unit according to the manufacturer's recommended service life.
